I live in the West-Australian countryside with my husband, four cats, one dog, three pet sheep and a multitude of wild creatures. I consider myself a custodian rather than a landowner, appreciating the privilege to co-exist with all of nature.  Rural living has another plus: silence and time for reflection; self reasoning; inner musings; questioning human behavior; self-conversation; self-criticism; silent humor; general philosophy.  I even sometimes believe I can change the world single-handedly, but you know how that ends. 
Basically having animals and trees to talk to (preoccupied husband and inactive social calender), I record our life in the countryside with delightful, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always real stories, prose, poetry, paintings.  In these pages I lament, I moan, I rebel, I laugh, I cry, I dream, I despair, I hope, but mostly I smile.  Life is as good as it is going to get.
